Mojo is Indy's free, local community web site. It's all about connections! You can have a million and one VIRTUAL friends on those other social networks. But here at Mojo, we're all about making events, finding new friends, and networking in ways you can't find elsewhere! Here's what you need to know.

IndyMojo is a site for networking and making connections. Our members are active and involved in this city and love to throw and attend events and meet new people. Our members are involved in art, music, sports, charity, business, and more. Our members love discussing and learning about news, politics, local musicians, amusing stories and more. However, we are NOT a dating site. We are NOT a site for seeking sex. We are a community of people looking to extend our social circle, not add extra notches to our bed posts. Many relationships and even a few marriages have begun here at Mojo, and we're proud of that. But those relationships started as friendships and grew from there, as we think they should. If you are here because you are simply looking for cheap hook ups or love in the wrong places, we have a message for you: We're Not Your Type.

Why such a strong statement? Because we go out of our way to make sure we provide a comfortable atmosphere for people to meet each other. Unwarranted advances and badgering hurt our community, so we take all necessary steps to prevent it from happening. We want all of our members to feel safe and enjoy their interactions on Mojo, not fear them.

Step 1: Make Your Profile

Real people, real events, real connections! By creating your profile, you are able to access all portions of the website and people will recognize you at events. We encourage you to use a real picture of yourself, but only post information you would be comfortable sharing with someone you just met. Think of your profile as an icebreaker for social interaction.

PRO TIP: Be honest. Why are you on Mojo? Are you new in town? Are you shy? Give people something to ask you about and you're more likely to connect!

Step 2: Engage in the Forums

We consider ourselves an online playground. There's a lot to see and do and waste time on while you're at home or even at work. The Discussion Forums is where the majority of members spend their time engaging in conversation. This is the BEST place to make yourself visible because anyone and everyone is encouraged to chime in.

Step 3: Look for Events

IndyMojo has special events nearly every day of the week on all sides of town. Once you have begun chatting with users in the forums and exchanging messages, now's your opportunity to head out to see them in person. All IndyMojo events happen in public spaces so even if you want to come and observe at first, you can see what IndyMojo is like. Look for special events titled "Newbie Friendly" as these events will feature nametags and introductions and are specifically geared towards users at their first event.

Pro Tip: Most events occur in bars, but that's mostly a product of convenience. What OTHER adult venues can you name that are ideal for conversation? You don't have to drink to meet people, just be open minded.

Step 4: Don't Stop!

True friendships take time. We don't guarantee that you're going to go to an event and have a new phone book full of friends and people to call. But every person who frequents events and the forums eventually makes connections. Some people see an IndyMojo event and think it's a clique. And maybe it is. But guess what... every single person in an IndyMojo t-shirt was a new member at one point.

Pro Tip: Almost everyone who is heavily active and involved in Mojo met the others through Mojo. It's not like they were all high school buddies. The only question is: Will YOU become our next active member?

How You Can Help Us Grow

We can't be a success without your help, and you can help by participating. First and foremost, tell us who you are! Being shy on Mojo is not a virtue, and it will get you nowhere. Post and promote your events in the calendar, create a group, chat with others, join in the forum discussions, and please tell your friends and co-workers about us.
