By far my best job interview ever

Ok, so here latey I've been on...well...a FEW job interviews. This past one I had recently, I would have to say, has by far been my BEST ever. It could not have gone any better than if it was scripted.

I was fairly nervous as this is a job I've held before and feel as though I'm more than qualified at it. So I meet the immidiate supervisor, we'll call her "Cathy". She was nice, seemed a little quiet but I managed to maintain a conversation with her until the interview began. She then proceeded to go get the manager, we'll call her "Kim". So I was going to be interviewed in a trade off style type of questioning. So everything started off well, I answered their questions to the best of my ability and they liked what they heard. After a few questions Kim's, the manager, pen runs out of ink. At this point she became embarrassed and it seemed like her cohort Cathy was going to go get her one. As she was about to leave her seat I say, "oh I have a pen if you'd like to use it", which I produce from my inside suit pocket. Apparently this cracks the two of them up. Kim apparently is the type to be over-prepared for EVERYTHING and this is the first time she has ever had a canidate for a job be more prepared than herself. They then said that this will be a story they'll share for a long time. I proceed to answer their questions, apparently better than they've had most people answer (not a direct quote from Cathy). We finish up the Q&A portion of the interview and then they ask me if I was familiar with the salary for the position. I told them I had spoke with the recruiter about it and that it was acceptable. We then, some how, got into the discussion of what I made at my last job, I told them (which is about $8,000 more than the minimum for this position). Cathy and Kim then try to prod me for more and say, "So what would you LIKE to make?", I say, well that's a very difficult question as it's like asking someone, "how much do you think you're worth". I give them a run around for a moment, dodging the question a little as I don't want this to be a factor for hiring me. Cathy then states, "so it'd be fair to say, you'd probably want to make what you made at your last job correct?". I nodded and said, yes of course.

This office just moved from a downtown location to an office building located at 96th and Meridian, so they aren't really "set up" as of yet. Cathy and Kim asked if I would mind sitting with one of their employees and seeing how the job works. I obliged and introduced myself to the person I would be sitting with. (sidenote: apparently while moving to this new location they have just received new phones and weren't completely familiar with them as of yet). I was given a headset so I would be able to listen to the employee do one of the aspects of the job. In doing so, the manager Kim, comes back with this device that allows you to split the phone line and listen or "piggy back" the person on the phone. Since the phones were new Kim was not familiar on how to hook this device up. I assisted her, just about doing it myself, she begins to walk away and Cathy stops her and says, "did he just help you hook that up?", in which she laughs hysterically and walks over to me pretending to hand me her badge and jokingly say, you can have my job after that. I over heard someone say "looks like we have a full team now".

This by far was the best and most entertaining interview I have ever been on. If I don't get this job, the world is fucked up. Currently I'm waiting to hear back so I can take some typing and computer assessment. The position requires you to be able to type about 20wpm...I can do over 70...no issue there. Since they had just moved offices, they aren't sure where this computer is to do the assessments, so I have to go back in to take that before they can officially offer me the job. Ugh, I hate the waiting game. If I get the job then it begins Sept 14th, 12 weeks of training...downside is, office is open 7 days a week, anywhere from 4am-8pm...ugh...but it's a job and a job that I'll probably be making what I made when I left my other one!!

fingers crossed...
